AOL Announces Relocation to New York City

Quarterlife To Be Network-Produced, MySpace Originated

September 13, 2007—Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, the producers responsible for several popular films, as well as the iconic television series “Thirtysomething,” have announced that they will debut and subsequently show Quarterlife, their new, network produced drama about college graduates trying to define their place in life, exclusively on the popular social networking site MySpace.

According to The New York Times, Quarterlife, described by Herskovitz as “comparable in tone, presentation, and production-caliber to a network-presented show,” is set to debut on November 11 of this year. Trailers for the series can be found both on MySpace, and, starting next month, on the new site–www.quarterlife.com.

Edward Zwick, responding to concerns that the characters in his new show face issues that are more similar to those faced by his own children then with himself, expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of bridging the generational gap, and incorporating many of the same issues that he himself faced into the lives of his Quarterlife characters.

The enormous popularity of social networking sites like MySpace has provided a platform for individuals, businesses, and media outlets to network and connect with others in a personal, more direct way than through the use of traditional marketing methods.

Myspace, which is owned by NewsCorp, will not be required to pay a licensing fee for the shows, and will instead focus on marketing Quarterlife to its vast network of users, as well as selling ad space to promote the series.
